The MAIA COST Action Training School, “Creative, Critical and Practical Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Archaeology”, was held from 2–4 September 2025 at King’s Manor, University of York.
Over three intensive days, participants engaged in a combination of hands-on training, critical discussion, and collaborative exploration of how Artificial Intelligence is shaping the future of archaeology. The programme brought together diverse perspectives, balancing practical implementation with deeper reflection on ethics, interpretation, and the role of AI in archaeological knowledge production.
